Understanding the Difference Between the UK, England, and Great Britain

People from all around the world, including frequent travelers, often confuse England, the United Kingdom (UK), and Great Britain. Here's a simple breakdown:
- England is a country, similar to Nigeria, with London as its capital, just like Abuja is the capital of Nigeria.

- Great Britain comprises three countries that joined together, with London as their capital. These three countries are:
   1. England
   2. Scotland
   3. Wales

When you add Northern Ireland to this group of three countries, it becomes the United Kingdom, a union of four nations:
   1. England
   2. Scotland
   3. Wales
   4. Northern Ireland

Therefore, it's referred to as the "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland." Despite this unity, each of the four nations has its own capital:
- Scotland: Edinburgh
- Wales: Cardiff
- Northern Ireland: Belfast
- England: London

So, although they are collectively seen as one country, each nation has its own capital city.
