The United States in collaboration with Global Air Drone Academy (GADA) will train 30 youth entrepreneur on how to safely operate and fly a drone.This was disclosed in a press statement released by the United States Consulate General Lagos.The consulate calls for applications to the Nigerian Drone Business Competition.The competition is a programme that seeks to nurture creativity and hone entrepreneurial skills among Nigeria-based early-stage youth technology entrepreneurs.According to the statement, 30 applicants will be selected for a 5-day virtual bootcamp where they would have the opportunity to learn from experienced drone professionals at GADA.GADA is a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) licensed drone services company based in Maryland, United States.The program is scheduled to hold from January 18th, 2021 – January 22nd, 2021.At the end of the training, participants will be allowed to pitch their business ideas to a panel of judges who will select the best three winners.The successful winners will receive professional grade drones and business coaching to support the launch of their new business.
Commenting on the objectives of the programme, the Public Affairs Officer, of the United States Consulate Lagos, Stephen Ibelli, said:
The competition is held in coordination with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, and is open to all Nigerian citizens/residents aged 16-30.
